Structural Transcatheter Cardiac Interventions in the Cardio-Oncology Population

چکیده

Modern cancer therapies have resulted in prolonged survival and decreased mortality for many types of cancer. Consequently, patients with concomitant cardiovascular disease (CVD) present prior to diagnosis cancer, resulting from various forms therapy, or developing after remission are at higher risk development cardiovascular-associated morbidity mortality. Management CVD, particularly structural heart disease, this patient population is challenging associated elevated surgical risk. Minimally invasive transcatheter procedures emerged as lower treatment modalities that been shown be safe efficacious. This review will evaluate the current literature on percutaneous management aortic stenosis (AS), mitral regurgitation (MR), tricuspid (TR), intracardiac thrombus (ICTE) masses patients. Multiple cohort- registry-based studies demonstrated efficacious implementation interventions severe AS MR The TR promising may also considered high-risk population. Interestingly, ICTE cardiac has achieved a novel approach. While multidisciplinary team approach necessary properly manage ICTE, more robust prospective clinical trials required meet needs rapidly growing cardio-oncology

Hybrid Imaging During Transcatheter Structural Heart Interventions

Fusion of different imaging modalities has gained increasing popularity over the last decade. However, most fusions are done between static rather than dynamic images. In order to adequately visualize the complex three-dimensional structures of the beating heart, high-temporal and spatial image resolutions are mandatory. Currently, only the combination of transesophageal echocardiography with f...

Cardio-Oncology Training: A Proposal From the International Cardioncology Society and Canadian Cardiac Oncology Network for a New Multidisciplinary Specialty.

There is an increasing awareness and clinical interest in cardiac safety during cancer therapy as well as in optimally addressing cardiac issues in cancer survivors. Although there is an emerging expertise in this area, known as cardio-oncology, there is a lack of organization in the essential components of contemporary training. This proposal, an international consensus statement organized by ...

Cardio-oncology: it takes two to translate.

As an emerging discipline focused on the cardiovascular care of cancer patients, cardio-oncology represents a novel platform for translational investigations. Toxic effects on the heart and vasculature caused by targeted cancer therapies can reveal insights into the biology of cardiovascular disease in humans. This phenomenon was first observed with trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody that targe...

Cardio-Oncology: mechanisms of cardiovascular toxicity

The therapeutic options available to treat a wide range of malignancies are rapidly increasing. At the same time, the population being treated is aging with more cardiovascular risk factors, comorbid conditions, and associated poor cardiac reserve. Both traditional chemotherapeutic agents (for example, anthracyclines) and newer therapies (for example, targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors and imm...
